Gitara je jedan od najpopularnijih instrumenata na svijetu ali često se zanemaruje njezino redovito održavanje. Čišćenje gitare je važno ne samo za estetski izgled, nego i za njezinu dugovječnost i zvuk. To će vam olakšati pristup teško dostupnim dijelovima gitare. Također, preporučujemo da operete ruke kako na gitari ne bi ostale fleke od znoja, prljavštine i drugih tvari koje mogu oštetiti gitaru.

 2. Čišćenje tijela gitare: Za čišćenje tijela gitare, koristite posebno sredstvo za čišćenje gitara. Nemojte koristiti nikakve sredstva koja sadrže alkohol, amonijak ili druge kemikalije koje mogu oštetiti površinu gitare. Ako se radi o akustičnoj gitari, pazite da ne navlažite drvo previše tečnošću, jer to može izazvati deformaciju ili pukotine. Kada čistite površinu gitare, pripazite da ne utrljavate previše, već nježno prelazite preko površine kako ne biste oštetili lak. Moguće je koristiti i običnu vodu i sapun ali zbog raznih hemikalija koje sapuni koriste moguće je sušenje drva. 3.Čišćenje vrata gitare: Vrat gitare je jedan od najosjetljivijih dijelova instrumenta, pa se preporučuje korištenje posebnog sredstva za čišćenje vrata gitare – različito od onoga za tijelo. Ova sredstva obično sadrže ulje koje hrani drvo i štiti ga od isušivanja. Prije nego što nanesete sredstvo za čišćenje, obrišite vrh vrata čistom krpom kako biste uklonili prašinu i nečistoće. Nanesite malu količinu sredstva za čišćenje na vrh vrata, a zatim ga ravnomjerno rasporedite uzduž vrata. Nemojte koristiti previše sredstva, jer to može uzrokovati nakupljanje ulja na površini vrata. 4.Čišćenje pragova gitare: Prašina i znoj se često nakupljaju na pragovima gitare, što može utjecati na zvuk instrumenta. Za čišćenje pragova možete koristiti četkicu za zube ili neku drugu mekanu četku kako biste uklonili nečistoće. Ipak je najbolje koristiti namjensku četku i pastu za pragove kao što je Ibanez IFC1000 jer ona neće ogrebati vrat kao što bi obične četke mogle.

5. Finalno brisanje: Na kraju, na gitari treba postaviti nove žice te prebrisati je i tako ukloniti sve tragove prstiju ili znoja koji su se nakupili prilikom održavanja gitare. Preporučuje se da koristite krpice za naočale ili namjenske microfiber krpe za brisanje gitare kao što je Ernie Ball Micro Cloth jer su dizajnirane tako da uklone i najmanje tragove diranja gitare i sigurne su da neće oštetiti farbu ili lak na gitari.
